Meet the Farmers
Brian & Nola Schultz
In the fall of 1992, Brian & Nola Schultz, young newlyweds, bought their current farm where Schultz Country Market is located. Brian is a 4th generation farmer while Nola grew up a little over a mile from the farm in town. They raise corn, beans, wheat, and hay as well as beef cows and calves, hogs, and chickens. Brian & Nola are the proud parents of two grown children, Austin & Courtney (Cole). Both children and their families live close to the farm. Brian & Nola have always wanted to do something more with the farm, diversifying it somehow. This was the seed that began Schultz Country Market, an idea to help their family farm as well as become an asset to their community.
Austin & Mikaela Schultz
Austin has been immersed in the farm life since he was born. Growing up on their family farm and being two steps behind his dad has been life since he could walk. Upon marrying Mikaela in 2015, their family has grown by four. Their children can be found running around the farm and helping with chores when they can. This farm life is not just a business, its a lifestyle that they hope to pass on to future generations. Opening Schultz Country Market has been a blessing to the family and they hope to continue serving the community with hard work and dedication to raising quality meat to feed your families.
Our story
In the fall of 1992, Brian & Nola Schultz, bought their current farm ¾ of a mile East of Rt. 32 on East 300 North Road just outside of Stewardson. The couple always knew they had a great location to start some type of business to help diversify the farm, and to bring their love of farming to the community. With the busyness of raising their two children Austin & Courtney (Cole), ideas got pushed aside until the time was right in early 2023. The idea of farm diversification came around again when their son, Austin and his wife, Mikaela became partners in the cattle operation after being involved with the hogs for several years.
The idea of offering individual cuts of meat to customers would provide a new avenue of selling their product in a different way. Customers would have the capability of buying their choice cut of beef and pork in whatever amount they please without having to purchase an entire beef or hog. Nola and Mikaela began to research and gather information to make this idea come to life.
Schultz Country Market, LLC was formed in March 2023. The construction of the building began that summer and the market opened its door in September of 2023. Brian and Austin work hard daily raising and caring for the animals while Nola and Mikaela are the faces you will see in the market. The grandkids tend to tag along on the farm and can be seen behind the counter in the market. Every cut of meat in our freezers was raised right on our farm. We all take pride in our work to provide a great quality product to our customers.
The market also offers seasonal chicken that Nola raises from the months of May to October. In the market, you can find basic produce, seasonings, rubs, BBQ sauces, local honey, frozen appetizers, cookies, baked goods, and preservative free breads. We aim to provide locally sourced products in our store, with several of our products either grown or made right here in Illinois. We also work with other talented small business owners to showcase and sell their handmade items. The market is a great place to shop local, to fill your freezer with great quality meat, and to see exactly where your food is coming from. Come visit us at Schultz Country Market, we will be happy to see and serve you!
