Meet the Farmers

Brian & Nola Schultz

In the fall of 1992, Brian & Nola Schultz, young newlyweds, bought their current farm where Schultz Country Market is located. Brian is a 4th generation farmer while Nola grew up a little over a mile from the farm in town. They raise corn, beans, wheat, and hay as well as beef cows and calves, hogs, and chickens. Brian & Nola are the proud parents of two grown children, Austin & Courtney (Cole). Both children and their families live close to the farm.

Austin has been immersed in the farm life since he was born. Growing up on their family farm and being two steps behind his dad has been life since he could walk. Upon marrying Mikaela in 2015, their family has grown by four. Their children can be found running around the farm and helping with chores when they can. This farm life is not just a business, its a lifestyle that they hope to pass on to future generations.

From our family’s farm to your family’s table

Our story

Brian & Nola Schultz have been farming for over 30 years. They purchased their home farm in 1992 and, in 2018, took over Brian’s parents’ farm located just ¼ mile down the road. Over the years, they have raised row crops, beef cattle, hogs, and chickens while also raising two children who are now grown with families of their own and still living close to the farm.

The couple always dreamed of creating a business that would diversify the farm and share their love of farming with the community. In early 2023, that dream became reality when their son, Austin, and his wife, Mikaela, joined the cattle operation after years of being involved with the hogs. Together, they saw an opportunity to offer farm-raised beef and pork cuts, along with convenient meat bundles, directly to customers — giving families the freedom to buy exactly what they want without purchasing a whole or half animal.

After months of planning and research, Schultz Country Market, LLC was established in March 2023. Construction began that summer, and the Market officially opened in September 2023. In spring 2025, the Market added a freezer trailer to bring frozen meat cuts to local farmers markets and transport finished products from the processor. In February 2026, Schultz Country Market expanded to ship frozen meats across the lower 48 states, serving customers from their family farm to kitchens across the U.S.

Along with beef and pork, the Market offers seasonings, sauces, local honey, frozen appetizers, and other locally made products — many sourced right here in Illinois. We’re proud to support fellow small businesses while giving customers a place to shop local, stock their freezer with quality meat, and know exactly where their food comes from.
